Re: Proposed One-Year Pilot Project with Community Meditation Windsor Essex and Tecumseh

Joyce Zuk presents the PowerPoint presentation entitled "Community Mediation Windsor-Essex" on the community mediation program.  This program provides a service for Tecumseh residents to resolve any by-law related issues, such as noise complaints and property standards.  

In response to an inquiry, Elizabeth Strutt-MacLeod advised that the number of calls for this service will be tracked and documented for the duration of the pilot project and will be shared with Council. 

Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Kavanagh joined the meeting at 7:00 PM.

    And that Council authorize entering into a One-Year Pilot Community Mediation Program between the Town of Tecumseh and Community Mediation Windsor-Essex in order to assist Town residents in resolving neighbourhood conflicts/disagreements;

    And further that the use of Town facilities to host the mediation sessions at no cost to the users, be approved.

    That the scheduling of a public meeting in accordance with the Planning Act, for the application submitted by 470698 Ontario Ltd. (Dalla Bona Construction) to amend Sandwich South Zoning By-law 85-18 by rezoning a 1.0 hectare (2.4 acre) property situated on the south side of North Talbot Road, approximately 40 metres (130 feet) east of its intersection with Hennin Drive (3455 North Talbot Road), from “Industrial Zone (M1)” to a site-specific “Business Park Zone (BP)” in order to permit the addition of general/business offices, professional offices, a union hall, restaurants, craft industries/specialty workshops and retail sales as permitted uses, and establish site-specific yard/lot requirements, be authorized, once Council formally approves the holding of virtual public meetings.

Power Outages

It is requested that Essex Power provide further communication with residents regarding the general maintenance of their equipment and the details of when scheduled power outages will occur.

It is requested that Essex Power provide additional information to residents on when the scheduled power outages for equipment maintenance will occur.

Miracle Food Drive

A Member announced that the recent Miracle Food Drive on June 27, 2020, collected over 100,000 pounds of non-perishable food items in Tecumseh. Gratitude is extended to residents for their generosity.

Splash Pads Update

The Director Parks & Recreation advises that the splash pads will be opening within the next week.  COVID-19 safety measures will be implemented for the safety of all users.

New Deputy Fire Chief

The Members of Council welcome the new Deputy Fire Chief, Kevin Kavanagh, and congratulate him on his new promotion.
