We acknowledge that we are on land and surrounded by water, originally inhabited by Indigenous Peoples who have travelled this area since time immemorial. This territory is within the lands honoured by the Wampum Treaties; agreements between the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, Lenni Lenape and allied Nations to peacefully share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. Specifically, we would like to acknowledge the presence of the Three Fires Confederacy Ojibwe, Odawa, Potawatomi and Huron/Wendat Peoples. We are dedicated to honouring Indigenous history and culture while remaining committed to moving forward respectfully with all First Nations, Inuit and Métis.

There is no pecuniary interest declared by a Member of Council.

The purpose of the meeting is to hear public comment on Housekeeping Amendment to Town Zoning By-Laws with respect to introduction of zoning regulations or Additional Residential Units (ARU)

The Manager Planning Services highlights on the proposed zoning provisions for Additional Residential Units.  The Mayor opens the floor to questions from the Members.

In response to an inquiry on the correspondence from the Essex Region Conservation Authority regarding hazard lands, the Manager indicates that the Town has a Disaster Mitigation Plan and has acquired a deep water rescue vehicle and is of the understanding that these initiatives were to have satisfied ERCA's concerns with respect to emergency access.  He notes that further discussions between the Town and ERCA need to take place with respect to regulations pertaining to building elevations for ARUs proposed in existing buildings within the Lake St. Clair Floodprone Area.
