The Mayor calls the meeting to order at 7:05 pm.

A Closed Meeting of Council was held earlier this evening, on June 9, 2020, at 6:15 pm, in accordance with Section 239 (2) (h) and (i) of the Municipal Act, 2001, which permits a meeting, or part of a meeting, to be closed to the public when the matter to be considered is information explicitly supplied in confidence to the municipality or local board by Canada, a province or territory or a Crown agency of any of them; or a trade secret or scientific, technical, commercial, financial or labour relations information, supplied in confidence to the municipality or local board, which, if disclosed, could reasonably be expected to prejudice significantly the competitive position or interfere significantly with the contractual or other negotiations of a person, group of persons, or organization. 

At this meeting, advice was given by Administration on the Town of Tecumseh's Submission to the Province of Ontario's Job Site Challenge Initiative.

The Moment of Silence is waived in light of the electronic holding of this meeting.

The National Anthem is waived in light of the electronic holding of this meeting.

There is no pecuniary interest declared by a Member of Council.

That Tecumseh Council support the request of The Honourable Steve Clark, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, and other Ontario Municipalities calling for urgent federal action to provide immediate funding for reliable broadband access across Ontario;

And that a copy of Council’s resolution be sent to the Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry; Minister of Infrastructure and Communities; Minister of Rural Economic Development and Minister for Women and Gender Equality; Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, as well as the Local MPPs, area municipalities and AMO.

It is requested that the Police Services Board minutes be sent back to clarify enforcement measures available for the seizure of vehicles.  This matter will be raised at the next Police Services Board meeting.

In response to an inquiry regarding speeding enforcement and the results of the 2019 Tecumseh Customer Satisfaction Survey, the Chief Administrative Officer explains that the O.P.P is a delegation at the July 28, 2020  Regular Council Meeting and O.P.P. Inspector Glenn Miller will be able to provide more information.

    That Mayor Gary McNamara be appointed proxyholder for the Town of Tecumseh to cast its shareholder’s votes at Essex Power Corporation’s 2020 Shareholders’ Virtual Annual Meeting scheduled to be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2020;

    And that Mr. Tom Burton be appointed as an alternate proxyholder for the Town of Tecumseh to cast its shareholder’s votes at Essex Power Corporation’s 2020 Shareholders’ Annual Meeting, if Mayor Gary McNamara is absent from the meeting;

    And further that the Director Corporate Services & Clerk be authorized to sign all necessary proxy forms to implement this resolution and to forward them to Essex Power Corporation.

    And that the expenditure of $100,000 from the Storm Lifecycle Reserve be authorized to complete the Manning Road Pump Station – Fish Pond Inlet Erosion Repair in 2020.

Miracle Food Drive

A Member announced the Miracle Food Drive on June 27, 2020 and encourages residents to donate non-perishable food and canned goods. The organizers anticipate a high volume of donations, and it is suggested that the Arena parking lot as a be used as a drop off area for the organizers.  

St. André School

A Member requests that Administration to look into the high grass growing at the east soccer field and the development lands to the south of St. Andre school. 

Bell Media 

A Member requests that Administration contact Bell Media to clarify that fibre is being installed and to request that an informational brochure regarding the installation be mailed out to residents in the area, in advance.

Riverside Drive

A Member requests that speeding enforcement be discussed at the Police Services Board.  It is noted that the O.P.P will be a delegation at the July 28, 2020 Regular Council Meeting.

Anonymous Letters of Frivolous Complaints

A member advises Council that some residents are receiving anonymous letters in their mailboxes regarding noise and property standard complaints.  O.P.P have responded to resident calls regarding this matter. It is requested this issue be discussed at the next Police Services Board meeting. 

Being a by-law to confirm the proceedings of the June 9, 2020 regular meeting of the Council of The Corporation of the Town of Tecumseh.
